San Francisco, CA (37° 37' N 122° 23' W): Reading
through the quartermaster's "gear list of doom" in preparation for
the trip to Puerto Rico this week. The list is 531 lines long in Excel
and includes all of the essential gear (anchor and rode, backup fuel
filters, docklines, handheld GPS, binoculars, extra winch
handles, etc). It also contains some hidden gems...my favorite items so
far are #47, #238, and #396 which represent: "Way to open coconuts
(machete would be good, hacksaw will do)", "ridiculous
costumes", and "Floaty chairs, animals, etc." Check #396 off the list
- I just packed two floaty chairs into my kiteboarding bag.
